The process of creating an astro image

From time to time I get asked various questions about astrophotography that essentially all boil down to “How do you do that?”

So…I’m going to do a series of blog posts (largely for my own amusement, I suspect, but if you enjoy them so much the better) that chronicle the creation of my next image.  I’ll cover the gear, what it does, its strengths and weaknesses and how those impact target selection, the choices made during data acquisition, the post processing, etc.

So sit back, grab your blankie, and let grandpa Eor tell you a story…
